March is well upon us and this means Zine Quest 2025 is wrapping up. Before it does, I want to share with you some of my favorite passion projects that are still available to support - including Mythworks’ own!

Returning Home: A Storytelling Game about Family Conflicts

Returning Home is a collaborative storytelling game that explores conflicts with one’s family of origin. Split into four distinct chapters, the players travel from the city where the protagonist currently lives to the place they grew up in. Along the way in each chapter, the players dive into different aspects of the conflict and eventually find a way to reconcile with their family. Written by Kelly Chang and featuring art by Lee Bear, Returning Home reminds us that reconciliation is rarely the big singular moment the media tells us, but is instead a long journey we must explore.

Resistance is Required

Resistance is Required, a TTRPG about the fight toward “Collective Liberation” from an authoritarian regime that has taken over your city. Using the Entwine game system, Resistance is Required focuses on collective action, reminding players that individual choices affect the larger picture. Written by DJ BeeZee and Maggie Mae, Resistance is Required is designed with the intent of provoking critical thought about how movements are born, sustained, and succeed. Resistance is Required is a fascinating look at revolution and resistance through the lens of a TTRPG.

Wayne Scotting's Guide to the Very Small Folk

Wayne Scotting is a member of the Small Folk, people who live in all of our houses. They're not parasites, only taking what is lost and what they need, and have a culture all their own. In Wayne Scotting's Guide to the Very Small Folk, you explore and adventure in their world - taking on challenges both large and small. The game features a number of ways to use a d20 and which keeps each roll interesting as you hide from Big Folk or try to build any number of contraptions! This anthropological guide has been written up by Garrett Douglas and Jared Mason.

Dark Heist

Dark Heist is a deck-building game of daring heists with crooked monsters and monstrous crooks. Build your gang and gain notoriety in the haunted Victorian era setting as you try to gain dominance over the city. Dark Heist is an innovative take on deckbuilding games played both in person or online. Written and designed by Moe Poplar and featuring delightful art by Guilhermo Clerch, Dark Heist invites players into an immersive world where they must carefully balance building their gang and taking on heists.

Time Force

Time Force is a wacky hijinks filled tabletop game that invites players to join the Chrononauts - individuals tasked with preventing the Apocalypse! Travel back in time to any number of eras to prevent disaster. Time Force encourages creativity in players, inviting them to create their own skill and equipment to help them in their mission. Designed by Ray Chou and Vincenzo Ferriero with one-shots in mind, Time Force is a fast paced game that is easy for just about anyone to pick up and play!

THE pENDulum AND the pIT

THE pENDulum AND the pIT is a tabletop roleplaying game set in a world overseen by the Eye, that which keeps the darkness - and those that hide in it - at bay. Players are either the Eye - watching over the world, impartial and observant or any number of Seekers - individuals who have been tasked to hold the encroaching darkness at bay. Made by Two Idiot Detectives (Max and Austin) and contains entrancing art by Saga Mackenzie, THE pENDulum AND the pIT contains simple mechanics and a broad outline of gameplay that allows players great freedom in gameplay.

Haft-Zine!

Half Zine! is a mystical RPG inspired by the Seven Sacred Artifacts of Haft-Seen, Persian folklore, and the unseen forces that shape fate. Players take on the role of a Seeker - an individual who Fate has given the chance to uncover the Seven Artifacts of Haft-Seen. Each artifact carries a deep meaning in Persian folklore: rebirth, wisdom, protection, beauty, patience, transformation, and time itself. Each artifact holds power, but each gift comes at a price. Created by Mim Armand, Half-Zine! invites players into the world of Persian mythology in a delightful packaged game.

Caught in the Rain

Caught in the Rain is a solo mystery roleplaying game that lets players develop their own world of mystery with only six sided dice, a deck of cards and somewhere to take notes. The game invites players to uncover satisfying, cohesive, and sometimes unexpected revelations instantly - no preparation required. Created by the team The Ravensridge Emporium, Caught in the Rain features dozens of tables to roll on and a system designed to spark creativity in players new to solo-play and those more experienced.

Hopefully some of these games caught your eye! Zine Quest, as always, is a special time for exploring new creators and checking out fun ideas!
